Qualifying Verdict

Kimi Antonelli delivered a stunning lap to secure pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix, posting a 1:12.051 to edge Max Verstappen by just 0.043s. The Mercedes driver's dominance was evident across all three sessions, topping Q1 and improving consistently through Q2 and Q3. Verstappen pushed hard on his final Q3 attempt but couldn't find the final few hundredths to overhaul Antonelli.

Q3: Top 10 Shootout

The top 10 shootout produced a tight qualifying session with the top four covered by just 0.300s. Lewis Hamilton qualified third for Ferrari (1:12.279, +0.228s), while Charles Leclerc could only manage P4 (1:12.351) at his home race — a potential disappointment for the Monégasque driver. Isack Hadjar impressed with P5 for Red Bull Racing, outqualifying his more experienced teammate. George Russell took P6 for Mercedes, while the McLaren pair of Piastri (P7) and Norris (P8) will start mid-pack. Pierre Gasly (P9, Alpine) and Liam Lawson (P10, Racing Bulls) completed the top 10.

Q2 Elimination Zone

The Q2 elimination zone claimed several notable scalps. Alexander Albon (1:13.787) and Carlos Sainz (1:13.815) missed Q3 by narrow margins for Williams. Nico Hulkenberg (P13, Audi) and Franco Colapinto (P14, Alpine) were eliminated alongside Arvid Lindblad (P15, Racing Bulls).

Q1 Knockouts

Q1 saw the expected backmarkers eliminated. Gabriel Bortoleto (P16, Audi), Esteban Ocon (P17, Haas), and Sergio Perez (P18, Cadillac) failed to progress. Oliver Bearman (P19, Haas), Valtteri Bottas (P20, Cadillac), Fernando Alonso (P21, Aston Martin), and Lance Stroll (P22, Aston Martin) completed the Q1 dropouts. Alonso's P21 was a particularly poor result, though the Spaniard would go on to produce the drive of the race on Sunday.

Session Improvement

The biggest Q1-to-Q3 improvement came from Isack Hadjar who found 1.974s across the sessions. George Russell improved by 1.769s, while Kimi Antonelli found 1.548s.
